A 27-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his own brother over an argument over where their ailing mother would receive treatment. The incident was reported from Sharda Enclave in outer Delhi, close to Aman Vihar. The accused is at large.
According to the police, Phulwati Devi stays with her two sons in Aman Vihar. She was recently diagnosed with tubercolosis and the younger son of Phulwati, Raju Kumar, was not happy with his elder brother Shiv Kumar’s idea of getting their mother treated at an ESI hospital. The elder brother held an ESI card. But Raju argued that he was ready to bear the cost of his mother’s treatment alone and she should get treated in a private hospital. This infuriated Shiv and family members had to intervene several times to stop the two brothers from quarrelling in the past few days.
“On Sunday evening, however, the brothers had an argument and it soon went out of control. The elder brother picked up a stone and smashed his brother’s head,” said a senior investigating officer. While the accused worked as a clerk in a private firm, the victim was a senior officer in a leading private bank. The mother is being treated in a private hospital at present.
The cops said that when Shiv found his brother lying in a pool of blood, he fled from the spot. The shocked relatives called up the PCR and Raju was rushed to a nearby hospital. Raju was later declared dead by the doctors.
“We have launched a manhunt for the accused and we will nab in any moment as several teams have been formed to investigate the case. We will question the brother to find out if there was any other motive behind the murder except the one told to us by the other family members. The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem,” said an investigating officer.
When contacted, DCP (outer) Bholenath confirmed the incident and said that “only a proper inquiry will reveal the truth about the incident.”
