A pop singer named Syllonni has been booked by the Delhi police for allegedly murdering her husband, as her image of a married woman was ‘harming’ her career.
Jaideep Rana was found dead at his Rajouri Garden residence, in June 2009, where he used to live with his wife Bina Rana alias Syllonni.
The FIR lodged by Jaideep’s mother Madhu Rana against Syllonni states that she had married him only for material benefits. She murdered Jaideep in order to get hold of his property.
Rana, a senior gynecologist, alleged that she could not file a case for two years as the Delhi police was conniving with Syllonni.
Finally on May 5, a Delhi Court directed the police to register a case.
Police claimed that it had not registered a case earlier as it was reported 36 hours after the incident took place and preliminary medical reports did not indicate a clear case of murder.
Additional sessions judge Dharmender Rana reprimanded the local SHO for lapses in the initial probe.
The court also noted that the postmortem report had revealed that there were injuries on the victim’s head whereas the police had claimed the main cause of Jaideep’s death was respiratory failure subsequent to pulmonary odema ( inadequate functioning of the heart or circulatory system).
” The cause of death in itself demands a through probe to rule out the possibility of homicide in the instant case,” said the court.
Jaideep and Syllonni were married in November 2001 and started living in their Rajouri Garden residence in West Delhi.
In 2003 Syllonni shifted to Mumbai to pursue her singing career.
Rana alleged that her son supported his wife in every possible manner to fulfill her dream of making it big in Bollywood.
After the success of her video Bheegi Chandni in 2008 her demands started increasing and she even refused to acknowledge Jaideep as her husband.
Syllonni believed that her marital status would eventually dash her hopes of becoming a Bollywood diva.
The singer was unavailable for comments.
