Kiran Rao made her directorial debut with ‘Dhobi Ghat’. The film was critically acclaimed and won humongous accolades in many international film festivals.
‘Dhobi Ghat’ had a disjointed narrative with multiple characters, which tried to usher in a new genre of film making. Moving away from the usual run of the mill films made in Bollywood, ‘Dhobi Ghat’ breathed life into art cinema.
Now Kiran Rao’s name is being associated with serious art cinema. But Kiran believes in versatility and has already directed a music video for Aamir Khan’s latest production ‘Delhi Belly’.
Kiran Rao directs a rap music video
Kiran Rao keeps her distance from typical ‘masala’ films made in Bollywood. Having a keen interest in film making, Kiran has directed a song called ‘Switty Tera Pyar Chaida’, which has a typical rap style.
She has conceptualized and directed the music video, which has Imran Khan wearing a lot of chains and dancing like a rapper.
Kiran said, “Now, I can direct a song in a film too,I must admit I had great fun while shooting for it.For the first time, Imran will be seen as a rapper and I must say he’s done a brilliant job of it. I am really impressed.”
Is there a rift between Abhinay Deo and Aamir Khan?
Directed by Abhinay Deo, ‘Delhi Belly’ stars Imran Khan, Vir Das, Kunal Roy Kapoor in lead roles. But to everyone’s surprise, the director himself hasn’t directed any of the promotional videos.
Rumor has it that Abhinay Deo isn’t much happy with the film’s producer Aamir Khan. Differences between the two cropped up, when Aamir wanted to re-edit the film during post-production stages.
But refuting all rumors, Abhinay said, “We share a great professional relationship.I have no problems with Aamir and vice versa. He hasn’t been interfering and has given me complete freedom to do my work.”
