Katrina Kaif, after giving it much thought, whether or not to work with Ranbir Kapoor, had decided to keep her personal and professional lives separate and agreed to work with her ex-flame Ranbir Kapoor in Ayaan Mukerji’s next (Mumbai Mirror, July 7).
This news had doused all hopes of Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma, the other contenders for the same role in the film to be produced by Karan Johar.
However, one of them can now rekindle their wish to star opposite Ranbir, since Katrina is likely to opt out of the project. However, the actress is still trying to work out her dates for Ayaan’s project. A final decision on the same will be taken today.
Ayaan Mukerji who had always been a good friend of Katrina had wanted the actress to be a part of his forthcoming venture. Though after her breakup with Ranbir, things did not look too bright for the director, Ayaan had not given up hope and pursued the actressactress.
Recently, when Katrina gave him the green signal, the director heaved a sigh of relief. Looks like, his relief was rather short lived. If Katrina opts out of the project, Deepika Padukone’s desire of working with Ranbir may just get fulfilled. According to sources, Dharma Productions will be asking Deepika to fill in Katrina’s shoes.
Ironic. Since it was Katrina who had filled Deepika’s shoes as Ranbir’s girl in real life. Deepika and Ranbir Kapoor were dating for almost two years from 2007 to 2009.
Reportedly, it was Ranbir’s closeness to co-star Katrina (Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani) that resulted in their relationship going kaput.
While Deepika revealed in an interview with Mumbai Mirror (July 25) that she would have no problem working with Ranbir, Katrina seems to be indecisive about the project.
“It’s not that she (Katrina) doesn’t want to work with Ranbir. She is very professional. She is working with her ex Salman Khan currently as well as Salman’s archrival Shah Rukh Khan. So why not Ranbir?” said a source close to the actress.
At the moment, Katrina is trying to adjust her dates for Ayaan. However with back-to-back projects Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan and Yash Chopra’s directorial venture opposite Shah Rukh Khan, the possibility of the actress being able to give a date to Ayaan seems remote. “Katrina’s diary for the next one and a half year is full,” informed the source.
While Katrina’s exit is still not finalised, producers already have Deepika in mind for the role. Our source revealed, “Ranbir is aware that it is now likely to be not Katrina but Deepika who will play his romantic interest in Ayaan’s film.”
However, a friend of Katrina told Mumbai Mirror, “Nothing is finalised. They are still working out the dates.”
KJo, Ayaan and Katrina remained unavailable for comment.
