In Bollywood, one year is not too early to be planning your next hit.
Especially not if your Salman Khan. And especially not if the occasion is Eid… 2012.
Sohail Khan has been supervising the scripting of his film ‘Sher Khan’.
The film is delayed because Salman was busy with his health issues and then with the shooting of his film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.
Now it is clear that Salman will not be able to shoot and promote his film ‘Sher Khan’ well enough for it to become a guaranteed blockbuster for Eid next year.
Salman Khan’s Eid release ‘Bodyguard’ broke the record held by ‘Dabangg’ at the box office set during Eid last year and this clearly means that he needs a good film next year too.
So now Salman has identified a film called ‘Kanchana’ to be made and released during Eid 2012.
‘Kanchana’ is a biggie in the Tamil film industry.
‘Kanchana’ directed by Raghava Lawrence stars Lakshmi Rai – she of the Mahendra Singh Dhoni fame – and Sarath Kumar.
Lawrence too played an important role in the film. He was also keen to direct the Hindi version of the film, but Salman isn’t.
He wants a tried and tested director – someone who has worked with him before – like Siddique to make the film with his inputs rather than make the film based on their own ideas.
“It all depends on what he wants to do. He wants the film to be made in a very entertaining manner. He wants songs in the film at the right places and in his own style. He does not want the movie to be made the way it exactly is in the Tamil and the Telugu versions,” says a source.
‘Kanchana’ is basically a sequel to Lawrence’s earlier film called ‘Muni’.
‘Kanchana’ is the story of transgenders and is a comedy of horrors.
The film is about a haunted house and how the hero stars behaving like a girl and stars cross dressing as well as if he is possessed. So will Salman do the unthinkable?
