So far the only claim to fame for model-turned-actor Angela Jonsson in the Bolly circle has been rumours of her briefly dating Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, that neither have confirmed till date. However, seems like it’s not Ranbir, but actor Salman Khan who’s apparently taken a fancy to this new-kid-on-the-block. Close on the report of her being signed on for Sohail Khan’s production Sher Khan opposite Salman, Angela has now been signed on alongside him in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick as well. This, sources say, has apparently been on the insistence of the Khan himself.
And this move has already set tongues wagging in the industry about the model being the new blue-eyed girl in Salman’s life.
Buzz is that the actor — who had been lying low on his personal front apart from being linked to starlet Makek Chahal — is taking much interest in Angela’s career and has been recommending her to several in the industry as the girl to watch out for. “Salman really thinks that Angela has it in her to make it big in Bollywood.
He only goes by what the audiences would want to see on screen. He’s even aware of how hard Angela’s been working on her Hindi diction and has been encouraging her as much as possible,” adds another source.
According to insiders, it’s quite a rarity that Salman signs on an actress back to back for two of his films. “Sure, Salman is known to shower films on his female friends who he takes under his wing to launch their Bollywood careers, but it is rare for him to push a newcomer this far. In fact, apart from Katrina (Kaif) he is till date yet to sign any of his finds including Zareen (Khan) and even Sonakshi (Sinha) as the lead opposite him again. So signing Angela for two films already says a lot about the faith he has in her,” says an insider.
But while Angela was signed for Sher Khan first, it is Kick that will see the newbie make her debut with Salman. Confirming this on behalf of the actress, Atul Kasbekar (who heads the company representing Angela) says, “There couldn’t have been a better launch vehicle than one opposite Salman. It’s exciting to be a part ofthe winning team of Salman and Sajid.”
