A woman in her late forties attempted suicide by jumping on the track of the Kashmere Gate Metro station on Sunday evening.
The incident was reported around 4.15 pm, when the woman jumped off from the platform of one of the major interchange station. According to Delhi Metro Rail Police (DMRP), she was rushed to the Sushruta Trauma Centre, Civil Lines in an unconscious state, where she was declared to be out of danger.
As no identity cards or mobile phone has been recovered from her, her identity is yet to be ascertained.
“The woman suffered no major injuries and just abrasions on her body. She was rushed to the Sushruta Trauma Centre, where doctors have declared her to be out of danger. As we have recovered only Rs 20 from her and no other belongings, her identity is yet to be identified. Only after when we record her statement, it will be clear whether the incident was a suicide attempt or an accident,” said a senior Delhi Metro Rail Police official.
However, another police official said that prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide attempt, as she was not carrying anything apart from Rs 20.
“No belongings such as mobile phone, wallet or a watch have been recovered from her. It is also not clear where she was travelling to as no token or a smart card has been found with her,” added another DMRP official.
